What these times are, and what we are not claiming.
Everything above is astronomy. The moon crosses your meridian once a day going one way and once going the other, and those moments — overhead and underfoot — are exact, calculable and specific to where you are standing. So are moonrise, moonset, sunrise and sunset.
Solunar tables take those same four moon times and treat them as feeding periods: the overhead and underfoot passes as the major ones, moonrise and moonset as the minor ones. That convention is why anglers ask for these times in the first place.
Whether fish actually feed harder during them is a long-running angling belief rather than something we can point you to evidence for. We looked for a source we could stand behind and did not find one. So this page gives you the times and lets you decide what they are worth — which is also how to use it: keep your own catch log and see whether your fish agree.
